HVS Student Invited to Batting Practice
Daniel Murphy meets Richard Bedard before the game at Citi Field.
As part of the Mets’ “Amazin’ Calls” program, Daniel Murphy phoned Richard Bedard on Wednesday and invited him to Citi Field, meeting him Friday on the field during batting practice. Bedard, who lives with cerebral palsy, will graduate from the Henry Viscardi School in Albertson, N.Y., on Thursday and will attend Adelphi University to study law in the fall on scholarships for academic merit and for leadership and community service. June 13, 2013 – Albertson, NY – Patrice McCarthy Kuntzler, Executive Director of the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center, received an Award of Distinction from the Long Island Association of Special Education Administrators during a luncheon on June 7. The Henry Viscardi School is an accredited school that offers parents of children with severe physical disabilities, who often require life-sustaining medical treatment throughout the day, a traditional and accessible education setting that provides rigorous academics and opportunities for personal growth and leadership development.
