Phillip Mayer, a student at Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center, was chosen as one of the winners of the “Embracing Our Differences” competition, an annual juried art exhibit sponsored by the Center on the Holocaust, Diversity, and Human Understanding. The purpose of the exhibit is to search for ideas and methods to spread respect for human rights. Phillip’s Photoshop project was completed in his Media Technology class.
Curated by highly respected art professionals, the “Embracing Our Differences” exhibit features up to 27 works of art that enlarged to billboard size, 16 feet x 12.5 feet. Making a really BIG statement, the artwork is being displayed on the grounds of the South Ocean Middle School, 225 South Ocean Avenue, Patchogue, New York, from October 28 thru November 8.
An educational guide is created to encourage visitors to engage in dialogue on issues of prejudice, hate, bullying and acceptance.
