Reach for a Star

The 30th Annual Reach for a Star Spring Luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY.

The Reach for a Star (RFAS) fundraising event was created thirty years ago to benefit the Henry Viscardi School. The Committee, formed by the late Mrs. Clara Carucci and the late Mrs. Marie Giffuni, continues to devote its time and energy to raise funds for the needs of the students enrolled in the Henry Viscardi School. This year we are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Henry Viscardi School.

Over the years, the Committee has raised nearly four million dollars to benefit our students.  Some of the programs made possible by the Reach for a Star Committee include: Wheelchair Basketball Program, After-School Clubs, Friday Night Recreation, Independent Living, Project R.A.M.P. Transition Program, State of the Art Renovations to the Medical Suite, Wheelchair Accessible School Bus, Renovations to the Beinecke Patio,   Renovations to the Clara Carucci Garden, Senior Activity Day and Senior Luncheon.

Today, the Committee’s energies are focused on creating activities that attract new friends and supporters to the School and Abilities!.

Sports Night

The 46th Annual Celebrity Sports Night will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 and will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Abilities! and the 100th Birthday of our Founder, Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr.

Attended by celebrities, athletes, members of the corporate community and philanthropic individuals, Celebrity Sports Night begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner follows with a live auction and special awards ceremony.
