Executive Director of Henry Viscardi School Receives Award of Distinction From Long Island Association
of Special Education Administrators

June 13, 2013 – Albertson, NY – Patrice McCarthy Kuntzler, Executive Director of the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center, received an Award of Distinction from the Long Island Association of Special Education Administrators during a luncheon on June 7. The Henry Viscardi School is an accredited school that offers parents of children with severe physical disabilities, who often require life-sustaining medical treatment throughout the day, a traditional and accessible education setting that provides rigorous academics and opportunities for personal growth and leadership development.

“I am deeply moved to be honored by my colleagues who have dedicated their professional lives to helping children with special needs and their families,” said Kuntzler who has been with the Henry Viscardi School for her entire career spanning nearly 40 years. She held a variety of teaching positions at the School prior to becoming the Executive Director in October 2005.

“Our School provides a fully-enriched academic program, a variety of therapies, assistive technology and medical supports to students who may otherwise need to receive instruction in their homes or a hospital,” explained John D. Kemp, President and CEO of The Viscardi Center. “Pat, along with her staff, ensures that our students receive and have access to the high quality education they deserve. She has also played an instrumental role in advocating for their needs at the local, state and federal level.”
