Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants at the Henry Viscardi School work to ensure that each student is able to participate in this learning environment. The occupational therapists support academic and non-academic outcomes by addressing upper extremity function, fine motor coordination, visual perception and sensory integration. Occupational therapy intervention impacts student performance in areas such as math, reading, writing, social skills and self-care.
At the Henry Viscardi School, occupational therapists evaluate and address the students’ ability to access technology in school. They facilitate independent access of the academic curriculum, using adaptation/modifications and the use of simple and complex technologies.
