April 13, 2015 – Hoda Kotb, co-host of the fourth hour of NBC’s Today and Dateline NBC correspondent, spoke to over 400 guest at the March 30th Reach for a Star Luncheon that raised funding for the Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center’s after-school programs. Upon her arrival, Ms. Kotb greeted Viscardi students and posed for photographs. She opened her remarks by taking some “selfies” that she showed on air the next morning. After meeting a group of students and learning more about Henry Viscardi School, which serves children with severe physical disabilities who often require life-sustaining medical treatment throughout the day, Ms. Kotb shared, “I get it… and why all of you here today help out.”

Judicial Replication Ceremony Held for Viscardi Alum
Induction Reenactment for Judge Robert Pipia Held for Henry Viscardi School Student Body
March 18, 2015 – A Judicial Replication Induction Ceremony was held at Henry Viscardi School at The Viscardi Center for one of its alumnus, Robert E. Pipia, on January 20, 2015. Pipia was elected to Nassau County District Court Judge last fall and officially inducted in January. In addition to the Henry Viscardi School (HVS) student body and staff, the ceremony was attended by family, including Pipia’s wife Maggie a teacher at HVS for 30 years, Viscardi Board members and alumni, and local officials including the Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead Kate Murray, North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judy Bosworth, Assemblyman Edward Ra, and Councilman Peter Zuckerman.
Meeting or Parents: SED Update and Annual Reviews – Rescheduled
Dear Parents, Due to the postponement due to inclement weather, I would like to reschedule the “Meeting or Parents: SED Update and Annual Reviews” for Wednesday, March 11th, at 10:00 AM in the Viscardi Multimedia learning Center. This meeting will be a follow-up to our previous discussions regarding the program structure of our school for the upcoming school year, including the issue of 1:1 paraprofessionals, related services, and our program restructure.

Due to the potential icy road conditions in the early morning hours, the Henry Viscardi School will have a 2-hour delayed opening on Friday, March 6th. Staff will report at 10:15 am. Parents, please use caution when determining whether or not to send your child to school. Please be safe when traveling.
